Selection Tools in PhotoShop
Move Tool:
use to move parts about the workspace.
This
is the Crop Tool: Click and drag over the area you wish to keep!

Feathering
In your Options Toolbar (Window>Options) there is a field
to enter a pixel amount for the feathering. Or you can make your selection then go to Select>Feather
and then enter the pixels and apply the feather. Below is an image that has a
15 pixel feather with edged deleted twice; next to it the same image with a 5
pixel feather and edges deleted once.

Marquee
Selection Tools: Click and drag
various shapes to select an area to alter.

Lasso
Selection tools: ÒDrawÓ around a
selection you would like to make.

Lasso Tool works like a pencil tool; you are literally drawing
the selection.
Polygonal Lasso Tool is similar to the pen tool; you click in various
areas to make a selection.
Magnetic Lasso allows you to enter a frequency amount, a smaller
number will follow the object tighter.
Magic Wand Tool:
Selections pixels based on the hue of the pixels.
The higher the tolerance you set the
more pixels similar to the actual hue you click on will be selected.
Quick
Mask Mode
The
icon that looks like a white circle inside a grey rectangle is the Quick Mask
Mode the other is the Standard Mode.
Click Quick Mask>Choose
a tool (I used the paintbrush indicated below)>ÓpaintÓ the area you want

Click back to Standard Mode
and youÕll see the selection.
